Mark Rippetoe, the author of Starting Strength, has worked in the fitness industry since 1978. He was a competitive powerlifter for ten years and after he retired, "Rip" coached national and international-level athletes as well as Olympic weightlifters in the US. He coaches the sport on a daily basis at the Wichita Falls Athletic Club, his own gym in Texas, and conducts seminars all over the country.
There are now 120 Starting Strength Coaches around the world helping people to learn the Starting Strength method.
